Before You Start With PPC Advertising…

posted in Essentials |

I’m not really into the Pay Per Click (or PPC) methods of generating traffic, the king of which would be Google’s Adwords program, and then Yahoo’s Search Marketing program.

You know these ads – they appear either on top, or alongside the organic search results on the major search engines.

I don’t want to spend a lot of time here because I do NOT have enough experience to share anything that might be useful on the topic… You see I’ve NEVER had a budget so I can put any decent money into PPC…

And basically (IMHO) an awful lot of people WASTE money for little results from these schemes…

But it’s NOT because they don’t work! Don’t get me wrong.

It’s because of the level of knowledge and testing required to make PPC work for you!

But… once armed with that knowledge, and an appropriate budget, by all means give it a try.

There are several excellent and extremely comprehensive ebooks available to teach you how to do it correctly… e.g. check out the Adwords 180 system for details of how save you can save lots of dollars if you use Adwords.

Just… before you start doing PPC… make sure you have everything ELSE in place and working perfectly!

And that includes:

  1. excellent site nativation so you don’t confuse your visitors
  2. compelling content on each page of your site
  3. a definite call to action on each of these pages
  4. your autoresponder account set up
  5. an ongoing strategy in place to update your site and communicate with your customers

If these aren’t happening, you WILL waste your PPC budget!
