Why You Should NEVER Do This! Ever!
As a “published” Author – both in print (from 1980) and online (from 1995), one thing that REALLY gives me the irrits is copyright infringement!
Especially when the offending material is a blatant direct copy of your material with just a few paragraphs changed around (and NO that is NOT enough to make it an original work under Copyright Law in any country).
Now I know that on the ‘net we have to accept (to a point) that some of our stuff will be replicated thanks to all the various content scrapers out there… but when someone actually uses your concept and copy practically word for word, and creates a whole new site out of it…
Well… you got my buttons pressed!
So when Kim Haas announced one of her sites had been violated in this way, I was actually lost for words, especially after doing the comparison between her site and the offending one.
I’ll respect Kim’s wishes in not announcing who the low-life is… but really, I feel that we should name and shame this gutless cretin and others like him so they leave the IM industry forever.
And you cannot hide on the ‘net – despite hundreds of millions of web pages! If you copy stuff you WILL get found out! Even more so if you re-use the material in the same industry…
One reason why I LOVE writing original content is because it IS original! It is 100% ME!
So if somebody feels like ripping my content off without permission, all I can say is… beware the wrath! If you take MY heart and soul and play with it…. look out… LOL!
Speaking of permission – it’s so simple to ask, and mostly given – so if you ever DO want to use any of my stuff – just ASK!
And don’t EVER, EVER steal other people’s stuff!
And that begs a comment about why I won’t promote the Site Stealer package… I didn’t like the “sound” of the “stealing” concept on first reading about it… and even though I now know more, it still “implies” something wrong. Good on ClickBank for banning it!
As a result of this, I’ve even removed the word “steal” from a sales-letter I’m currently writing… we don’t need any more subliminal messages to encourage this sort of wrong-doing!
