This post continues with the next five of the revolutionary changes I will be making to my Internet Marketing Business in 2008.

6. UPDATE some of my older established sites to bring them into this century… literally!

   I want to install WordPress on several of my more established web sites (1995, 1997) to take advantage of the technology it offers. Specifically:
   a. the easy to use WordPress content management system
   b. it’s easy to get new pages quickly indexed by search engines
   c. the ability to communicate regularly with visitors using RSS feeds (and Feedburner)
   d. the easy social/community aspects of commenting etc.

   Get it? Using WordPress makes things EASY!

   While updating old sites is dicing with search engine indexing suicide, I’ll be VERY careful about keeping those existing URL’s and integrating the new stuff with the old!

7. All these WordPress installs give me the ability to easily update my sites, so the next revolutionary thing would be to COMMIT TIME to REGULARLY UPDATE my sites.

   The whole point of using this technology is to get indexed, to get new relevant traffic! Without that committment to add new content regularly, it just ain’t gonna happen!

   That means you’ve got to like writing stuff… and I’ve got to write lots of it because I have so many children (web sites) that need to be fed…

   Don’t like writing, or don’t think you can do it?

   Well all I can say is… either choose a new business, or get started with blogging and get some practice in - you’ll find it all happens a lot easier once you get started!

   Writing is THE MOST ESSENTIAL SKILL an Internet Marketer must have. Consider what you need to write on a day-to-day basis… blog posts, sales letters, squeeze pages, promos, auto responder sequences, article marketing… it never ends!!!

8. MONETIZE MY SITES BETTER. Practically every single site I own has Adsense on it. And while that works well on some, it doesn’t on others. So I’m looking for alternate monetization methods on those “other” sites. Perhaps some relevant affiliate products, or even some shameless self-promotion to point to my other sites or products that DO earn money.

   I’m also looking a supplementing my Adsense income through various techniques.

   These include:

   • charging people to add their URL to my well established directory sites (they’ve been free for almost 10 years)
     
   • finding useful Internet Marketing products I can sell
     
   • developing my own products and making them available to affiliates and JV partners
     
   • integrating promotions with selected partners
     
   • even boring old paid advertising on the more popular sites could be useful.
   The aim with any web site should be to INCLUDE THREE MONETIZATION METHODS on each page of your web site, including any combination of these:
   • adsense or similar contextual ads
     
   • newsletter or RSS subscription form (for ongoing backend sales)
     
   • reviews of your own or affiliate products
     
   • “partner” links pages including links to your own or affiliate products, or carefully chosen reciprocal links with sites that target your market
     
   • paid ads/links to other sites

9. DEVELOP AN INTERNET MARKETING STRATEGY (Part A) for me for 2008. I’ll give you a little hint about what I have in mind here…

   First up (being an ex-teacher) I suppose you never get away from trying to teach people the correct way of doing things… so my approach is going to focus on “learning” you that sort of stuff!

   I’ve chosen to do that because the last 12 months or so has been extremely “painful” for me - a full-time Internet Veteran since 1995 - to sort through all the BS and hype about setting up your own business in the Internet Marketing field.

   I found ALL SORTS OF GAPS in the information that the guru’s deliberately avoid filling… Probably because they are thinking that if these yawning gaps in the knowledge were filled, there wouldn’t be enough room at the top for them

   So you’ll start to see a LOT more of that gap filling knowledge flow your way on my sites, so you can start to build a real business on the ‘net!

   And then when you HAVE a product you can call your own, I’ve got a couple of Internet properties you can use to get the word out about it.

10. MY INTERNET MARKETING STRATEGY - Part B

    My primary revolutionary objective for 2008 is to team up with others to develop and grow several inter-linked authority sites in the Internet Marketing arena… sites that are specifically designed to offer real help to the “newbies”!

    So when you are thinking JV, or advertising, or promotion of your stuff in 2008, you WILL be thinking of me

    Why? Because YOU are cordially invited to become an integral part of this new network!

    You will have the opportunity to joint venture and cross-promote with me and everyone else who wants to take part! It will be a group of like-minded people who are intent on helping themselves succeed by helping others to do the same!

    So roll on 2008!

    The Revolution is underway!
