Internet Marketing Toolbox

It’s my birthday, today! As is often the case with birthdays… at least as you start getting on a bit… you reflect on what you have “done”.

And today, I realised I have spent precisely one quarter of my 53 years working as a full-timer on the ‘net!

Way back in the good ole days, circa 1995, the ‘net was very like the wild, Wild West. And I was there, blazing trails into the great unknown, trying all sorts of things to capitalize on this exciting new medium.

But people were sceptical. Very sceptical. Especially those in business whom I was targeting as a “young” web designer.

“Internet? Schminternet!” was often the response received, and even more so once the “snake-oil” salesmen started arriving on the frontier!

Maybe leaving a 16-year teaching career wasn’t such a great idea after all…

It didn’t take long to realise I had to continue “teaching”. Except now, I had to learn people on how to avoid all the schemes and scams that came out of Dodge City!

And I’ve been doing that since 1997 when I launched my first small business web site, which (still) focuses on providing valuable, correct information about doing business online.

I’ve since established a whole heap of sites in different niches whose primary goal is to make life easier for small businesses on the web… to help provide that “level playing field” the Internet was supposed to offer.

But while that approach provides lots of warm fuzzies, it’s extremely limiting as a means for making a living!

Let’s face it…

What would people prefer to hear about?

• a hyped-up, truly riveting presentation about how you can make heaps of money online with practically no work at all?

  OR

• the more “honest” (yet absolutely totally “boring”) approach to doing things the “right” way?

That’s pretty much a no-brainer, eh?

People don’t want to know “how-to” anymore. They’re looking for instant fixes. Someone to “do” it all for them.

Work? What’s that?

So now there are literally millions of snake-oil salespeople infesting the frontier, perpetuating the myth of instant riches around every corner, providing turnkey solutions to problems that don’t exist, milking the unsuspecting for every cent they can get!

Where the only ones really getting “rich” are you-know-who!

ENOUGH!

It’s Time For An OnLine Revolution!

Time for people to take a stand on all the scammers and expose them for the rip-offs they are!

Time to eliminate the information pollution clouding your perceptions!

Time for you to look closely at your own marketing to make sure you are not perpetuating the B.S.

Time to pull out all the weeds choking out the struggling flowers in the Internet garden!
