WP Twin Review – The Simplest Way EVER To Move A WordPress Site!

posted in Reviews, Software |

I’m totally knackered after spending the last 2.5 hours trying to manually transfer a WordPress site to a new host. It’s been even more complicated and time consuming than usual, because the old host uses “add-on” domains!

I finally gave up (at Step 12 of 16) when I found out that the (expletive deleted) images hadn’t transferred properly, so I’m back to square one!

And then I actually found THE solution to moving WordPress sites so easily… and that is WP Twin!

Yeah! Seriously… No B.S. here – this is exactly what happened to me this morning!

And considering I was getting nowhere… FAST… because my client has 20 sites to move onto a decent reseller hosting platform… this was a great discovery!

WP Twin is server software which requires ONLY a teeny bit of FTP knowledge to operate. I.E. you upload (using FileZilla) one php file to your web server… and then go to that location in your web browser to make a CLONE of your site.

Then save the clone to your hard drive.

Time so far? Maybe 2 minutes first time round… Don’t worry – it’ll be even faster once you get the hang of it ;)

Next up – install WordPress on your server (use cPanel and Fantastico to do that)

Another minute?

Now FTP to the new server, upload the clone and another little php file… open that in your web browser, login and press the DEPLOY button…

Another 2 minutes… and you are FINISHED! For real!

In around 5 minutes you have created an EXACT REPLICA of an existing site, AND set it up on another server!

WP Twin IS the simplest way EVER to backup and move a WordPress Site!

The implications and possibilities of this tool are mind boggling if you start thinking outside the box a little…

I mean… sure, use WP Twin as intended – a backup tool for all your self hosted WordPress sites! No worries about that! Except that it is not an “automatic” backup tool like the cPanel Backup Smart Software is. WP Twin does require you to manually login to create the backup file. The developers suggest daily, but that would depend on how “busy” your site is,

You could even COMBINE it with cPanel Backup Smart Software to provide even greater protection and piece of mind.

Or use WP Twin to “clone” sites to make them simple to move to another host. That WILL happen a LOT faster and easier than most of the other, trickier methods you probably already know about! WP Twin will backup, clone and move ALL your fully configured themes, posts, pages, comments, tags, plugins (and configurations), settings and widgets – the whole kit and caboodle – without even breaking into a sweat!

Or, if you are a website developer, use it to create client sites on a testing platform, and transfer the clone easily to the client web server!

If you are into affiliate marketing, then WP Twin is gonna make building all those little micro sites a total cinch! Set up one, and clone the rest!

If your blog ever gets hacked, you can restore it (from your cloned backup) in only a moment! How sweet is that?

And… WP Twin comes with NO licensing restrictions – so you can use it on as many sites as you like! Even betterer!!!

And it will literally save you hundreds of hours!

EMMACHIZZIT????

That’s Aussie slang for “how much is it?”

Well when you consider how much TIME this WILL save you, I’m sure you’ll agree that the $77 is certainly going to be money well spent!

And if you are still sceptical and don’t want to believe me… Please go and check out the real time videos on the WP Twin site and see it in action there! Whole sites moved and replaced in under 5 minutes!!!

Take it for a 30-day test drive and see how you go yourself!

Heck – even moving just one BIG WordPress site (where your export file is over 2MB) WAS once a big problem…

But with WP Twin, it ain’t no more! ALL your files – including images, pdf’s etc that you need for your site – can be cloned and moved in minutes! One testimonial even reports moving a 4GB site with no dramas!

So grab WP Twin now while it is at such a bargain introductory price!

And if you need a little extra enticement…

It comes with one helluva bonus :)

There’s a pretty amazing cloned site ready for you to upload to your server! It contains a whole heap on one button sales letter themes and a special plugin which allows you to create sales letters, thank you pages, and download pages in minutes!

And if THAT doesn’t give you another valuable clue as to what you can do with this remarkable tool – i.e. create heaps of prefab cloned sites which you can SELL with PLR etc (and even advertise in their very own marketplace) – then you really need to sit back and have a good long think about what you are doing online!!!

WP Twin is going to save you hours of time, free you from doing a whole heap of “trained monkey” (repetitive) work, and ensures piece of mind knowing your sites are easy to get up and running if something goes critically wrong (i.e. hacker or server meltdown).

There are literally dozens of ways you can make use WP Twin! So don’t muck around – go get it now…

And please let me know what you think of it!

Cheers

P.S. I ended up moving the client site easily… AFTER I had solved a little configuration problem with my old server. This involved submitting a support ticket to the developers and getting a really quick response – which is great considering I am on the other side of the world!

So… only nineteen sites to move now… I should get them all done within an hour or two – fingers crossed :)

WP Twin follow-up report… and oh wot FUN hosting companies can create – NOT!

I’ve been testing the WP Twin script on a variety of different web hosts I have access to. And as they say in the classics… “I’ve got some good news… and some bad news…”

First up… You NEED php5 to run the script! This is easy enough to turn on in cPanel – just look for php Configuration, and select php5 from the pop-up option at the top of screen.

Next… It did not work with some of the hosting companies I had access to. Why not? Well it requires two php functions to be turned on – system() and exec(). In quite a few “shared” hosting environments, these are turned OFF because of security concerns. If that is your host… forget this script because they are VERY unlikely to turn these functions on.

However… I have successfully tried it on Hostgator, BlueHost, Ultimate Marketing Centre (had to ask first), and on my VPS at modvps.com (so presume it should also work at other Hostingzoom servers as well)

So ASK your web host if they allow the use of the php functions system() and exec() – if not… well a refund for WP Twin is easy to get :)

I thought the BlueHost simplescripts installation of WordPress might create a problem… but no worries – WP Twin still worked with it (although you are playing in an “add-on” environment there, and the whole point of this exercise was to get things over to separate accounts on a reseller webserver).

The final issue I had was where I tried to set it up on a site where the domain name had NOT yet been redelegated to the new server… something you may do a lot. Here I had to fiddle with IP addresses and usernames – i.e. ip.address.of.server/~username/ to access the script. So there is an element of “tech” knowledge needed in this situation. And… until the domain resolves to the new server and I can see for myself… I won’t be “really” sure if everything came across OK.

Apart from these issues, the other “problem” was related to the SPEED of my internet connection… i.e. how quickly the clone can be downloaded from the old server, and uploaded to the new one. So obviously the faster your ISP connection, the better!

    My Final Verdict?

If your host allows the php functions needed… then WP Twin is absolutely brilliant! :)

Hope this info helps you a bit more!

    Cheers
    Stephen
